MAULED BY A LION.

A three and a half year old child got through the railings guarding the lior.’s cage at the Zoological Gardens, Sydney. The grandfather of the child- —a man named Renn-—rushed to the rescue, when the lion put a paw through the bars, grabbed the man, and struck him with the other paw, seriously tearing the flesh back, and trying to draw him into the cage. The man was rescued from the clutches of the lion with difficulty.
