Improved Telegraphy.

The “ Morning Post ” reports that trials of the typewriting and telegraphic system invented by Mr Donald Murray, formerly of Auckland and Sydney, haya been conducted, between Loudon and Edinburgh, and proved very satisfactory The system will be used commercially later.

Mr Murray, who is well-known.; in New Zealand, patented his system about ten years ago, while living in Sydney, says the Times*', and has since been endeavouring to secure its adoption in England. The invention is a far-reaching one, and as applied to telegraphy means that messages may be transmitted from one place and typewritten at the receiving station in one operation. Recant letters from England show that experiments were being conducted by the General Post Office authorities with Mr Murray’s invention, Barloek typewriters being employed. The essence of the invention is the synchronous actualioa of an indefinite number of similar key-boards in

different localities by electric connec tion.
