Foxton Lawn Tennis Club.
The opening day of the Club yesterday was a marked success, for though the weather looked anything but promising there were orer thirty visitors to the courts. The newly elected President, Dr Bennett, was present, and stayed watching the play for some time, which he said recalled the days of his youth when he was a player in sultry India. The Club has cause for congratulation in the number of lady players who were present yesterday, it is a good omen of a successful season to see so riikny ladies in attendance. An afternoon tea was given by Mr Alf. Fraser, one of the Vice-Presi-dents, which was handed round by the host, Bev. Wilson, and other gentlemen players, and was much enjoyed. Taking it altogether a very pleasant afternoon was spent by those present. f
We understand that the arrangements for the annual Tennis Ball are well under way, and as the ladies have undertaken to give the refreshments, we know that they will leave nothing to be desired in that direction. The date has been fixed for the 24th of this month, and the invitations will be issued in a day or two.
