School Committee.
The committee met last night. Present—Messrs T, Westwood (Chairman), S. H. Baker (clerk), Jenks and Walter Robinson.
It was reported that the school bell, obtained from the Wirokino Ferry had been unworkable for some time, and though two or three of the local tradesmen had endeavoured to get a sound out of it, they had been unsuccessful and retired from the attempt. The chairman reported that Messrs Gillauders had taken up the work and had bean wholly successful. In response to many applications from the committee the Board has promised to build a new gallery in the infants’ room in the school.
They have agreed to paint the school outside and to provide new tanks. In connection with this Mr Frank Cook has promised to give and fit one tank with one of his patent filters. A communication from the headmaster showed that the average atten. dance for the past quarter was 199.1, and if the per centage was kept up to 200 per cent, an additional teacher would be secured at the end of the year.
