A Flag for Australia.
« -» The announcement of a flag competition is one of the many attractive features of the current " Keview of Reviews." With characteristic judgment the proprietors have secured a bench of judges of unrivalled impressiveness and authority, consisting of the Premiers of the six Federating colonies, and offer a prize of £50 for the best design submitted. The only conditions attending the competition are that two coloured sketches — one civil and the other military — not less in size than six inches by three inches, shall be sent in under a norn de plume before February 1, the right to publish the designs submitted being held by the magazine. The proprietors, in offering this prize, make an appeal to the artistic imagination and designing skill of the seven colonies, and we have no doubt that the Premiers will be enabled to pick a flag that will have every chance of becoming the flag of Australia, and, as such, of holding a proud and long-end uving place amongst . the flags of the civilised world. For the full conditions of competition, we refer our readers to the October number of the " Review of Reviews," which may be obtained locally for 9d, or direct from the office, Queen-street, Melbourne.
