THE ATTACK ON JACOBSDAL. Details of the attack on Jacobsdal J show that the inhabitants admitted 40 Boers at night into the houses commanding the Square, where the garrison of Capetown volunteers and Highlandeis lay. The Boers opened fire at daylight, killing eight asleep and 10 others with explosive bullets. The remainder of the Highlanders abandoned the Square, being unable to reach their rifles, and lay concealed until after noon, when six tried to recover their arms. All were shot, only five out of 34 being unwour.ded. A large commando outside Jacobsdal retreated when British reinforcements approached. BOERS NORTH OF PRETORIA. Louis Botha has occupied Warm Baths north of Pretoria. Boers with a convoy of cattle attacked Major - General Paget at Pienaars river. Paget vigorously responded, and inflicted considerable loss on the enemy. He captured 26 Boers and 25,000 cattle. The British captured stock in one week valued at £500,000. De Wet is sjambocking and shooting burghers showing unwillingness to fight. After capturing a British outpost numbering go, near Geneva, a party of 150 Boers held up the Capetown mail. They ejected the passengers, looted and burned the mails and then fired the train. On an armoured train approaching, the Boers fled, relinquishing, the go prisoners. Twelve Boers were captured. The fire on the train was extinguished. Sir A. Hunter has burned more farms in the Bothaville district Quantities of ammunition concealed in the roofs of the houses exploded. The cavalry captured 60 Boer 3 in the vicinity. Prince Christian has been interred at Pretoria.
