The "Daily Mail" credits Lieut.General Sir Archibald Hunter with the victory at Honingspruit, after a rapid march. A TERRIBLE MISTAKE. A train which was conveying British prisoners to Nooitgedacht,was shelled by our artillery, as it was believed to contain fugitive burghers. THE CAPTURED DERBYSHIRES. The captured Derbyshires, who were taken prisoners near Roodeval, have been taken to Vrede. They are being well treated. ANOTHER CAPITAL. Machadodorp, on the Delagoa Bay railway, 140 miles east of Pretoria, and President Kruger's present headquarters, has been proclaimed by the Transvaal authorities as their new capital. . ■ I The majority of the inhabitants of the town are living in tents. j BATTLE NEAR PRETORIA. Lord Roberts telegraphed to the War Office on Tuesday that Pretoria and Johannesburg were quiet, and their inhabitants thankful for the restoration of peace and order. WESTERN REBELS. A thousand rebels, with thirty waggons, fleeing before Sir Charles Warren's force, have reached Kurilman in Griqualand, away to the north, west of Kimberley. THE CAPE MINISTRY. Mr Schreiner (the Premier) and the entire Ministry have resigned. j The resignation has been accepted j by Sir Alfred Milner. j BRITISH LOSSES. I The War Office has published a retura of the British casualties since the commencement of the war. The losses in killed and wounded up to the gth inst. were 1276 officers and 17,405 men. Exclusive of the sick and wounded now in South African hospitals, the total casualties in the war number 25,728 officers and men.
