By the victory the lines of communication were cleared and the position at Kropnstad, which had been j threatened, was made safe. si RELEASE Of THE DERBY- j SHIRES. | The British retook the Yeomanry hospital, in which were 1040 wounded and prisoners, the latter including 700 men belonging to the fourth battalion of Derbyshires, who were taken prisoper near Roodeval, when Colonel Douglas was killed, and Colonel Wilkinson wounded, and 109 British were said to have been killed. It was ascertained, however, that the number of Derbyshires killed was 36. -BOER OUTRAGE. Before withdrawing from Watersvaal where the British prisoners were kept, outside Pretoria, the Boers shelled the British prisoners' camp and the hospital quarters, but the British cavalry drove them off.
