FOXTON S. SCHOOL v. COL LEGE-STREET SCHOOL.
A team of cricketers from the local school in charge of Messrs Stewart and Furrie, journeyed to Palmerston on Saturday and there met the College' Ureet School boys in a friendly game " of cricket on the Recreation Ground. The College-street boys took the wickets first, but could only put together. -■ \o runs, of which C. Mowlem . (capt.), •. made 15. The Foxton boys then toolc. .„ the wickets, and by good even battipg succeeded in putting together xii runs, of which L. Cozens (32), F. Wbibley (21), E. Collins (16), B. Kemp (i 2), r J. Robinson (11), and W. Stevens (g); v were the principal scorers. The best/ bowling of the day was done, by .p,^ , Kemp (Foxton), who took 8 wickets for 14 runs. This bpy bowled with a spjen- > _ i; . did; length and great judgment, and.""*" combined with the splendid fieMlng of 1 the rest of his team, was responsible for the small total of the College-street boys. For College-street the best bowling was done by Cliff Mowlem, but his efforts were not backed up by the fielding ql his boys. As thef^wai not time to play another ittnings out* the game was decided oa the first innings, leaving the Foxton boys victorious by 71 runs. Lunch was kindly provided by the College-street boys, and altogether the Foxton boys have cause to be pleased with their triftta Palmerston. ■■■■',
