The Australian Bel l ringers.

The Steele- Payne comp, anv of bellringers performed last mght «to a crowded audience, and the entertainment proved to be one of the best that has visited us for some time, past. Nearly all the items on the 'programme were encored, and m every case the encores were complied with. The performance given last night was very pleasing, the playing on numerous instruments, such as hand-bells, silvery-toned sleigh bells, etc., being loudly applauded, while the singing o£ the artists was also much appreciated. The company manipulated the musical bells with great dexterity, and proved themselves clever violinists and vocalists. The part singing was good, and the opening number, " Come, where my love lies dreaming " was one of the best numbers. Mr Ralph Steele also was heard to advantage with "Sons of the Sea," in which a clever little son of his also made his appearance, and sang as to the manner born. y^The contribution of Mr James WiUiAms — Loder's well-known song "The Diver," was a treat, and his deep bass voice will not be soon forgot. > The contributions by the ladies were also much enjoyed, in fact the programme submitted was most interesting, and every item, without exception, -was well rendered and received. We shall look forward to this clever company paying us another visit with pleasure. Mr Steele on behalf of himself and Mrs Steele (Lizzie Payne) thanked the large audience for their attendance before the last item of the evening was given. ______„_.__
