The indebtedness of Paris, however, considerably exceeds that of New York, as three years back it was £71,000,---000. London, considering its magnitude, ia comparatively lightly burdened with debt. Tne London Oity Council owes rather over £40,---000.00 - t-he City Corporation £5,* 255,000 (all of it self supporting), -md the Commissioners of Sewers £1,500.000, making in all about £47.000,000.
