War in the Philippines.
General O-is, the chief of the American forces in the Philippines, haa purchased thirteen Spanish gun boats now lying at Zamboanga, in the Philippinee. Tbe Filipinos, taking advantage of successive entrenchments, continue stoutly to resist the Amerioans. The surgeons belonging to the British crui_er Powerful are attending to the Amsrioan wounded. The American troop 3 at Manila are being reinforced by the addition of 6000 infantry, which were despatched from San Francisco on Saturday. General Otis, in his deapitohea to the Government, referes to the difficulty the Americans have experienced in attempting to cut off Aguinaldo's retreat. The tone of tbeae desprtches is r egarded by tbe Government aa ominous.
