Presentation.
At the farewell social to the Hon. John McKenzie at Palmerston South the other evening, there was a large and representative gathering. The Hon. Lee-Smith, as treasurer of the testimonial fund, announced that there would be a sum of nearly *£_000 to be presented to Mr McKenzie prior to his departure on a visit to his native land. Hon. Mr McKenzie, in the course of an interesting address, said he would probably have to undergo a. severe operation at Home, and he might never see his friends here again ; but if he came back in health and strength ho would stand for no other seat than * Waihemo. Hon. J. G. Ward, on be- ■**■ half of residents of Winton, presented several valuable articles to Mr and Mrs McKenzie, and on behalf of residents of North Otago presented Mrs McKenzie with a diamond brooch, diamond bracelet and diamond ring. ____________________■_________■_. .—«.■ i .
