| * The Chinese Imperial troop 3 have inflicted a heavy defeat upon the rebels at Chungking, in the provinoe of Suchwan. The Chinese Government has yielded an extension of the exolusive Fi-.uch settlements at Shanghai. The Viceroy of Shanghai is chargrined at the British failure to support his opposition to an exclusive concession. An Anglo American Syndioate has secured an extensive mining and railway concession in the Chinese province of Szechuan.
