Heat Wave in Victoria.
The heat wave affects the whole J" colony. Destructive bush fires have occurred in various parts, and great damage has been done to standing crops, grass and fencing. Several townships were only saved by tho residents fighting en masse. At Bruthen, a town with 500 inhabitants, 190 mile**) ea9t of Melbourne, «ome houses on tbe outskirts were destroyed.
