A Scene at a Licensing Committee.
At the meeting of the Auokland City Licensing Oommittee, tht police reported favourably upon the effeot of the 11 o'olook dosing, and Sunday observance by the licensees'. Mr Cotter made an application for a grant of a conditional seven days' license to sell liquor at the Exhibition, but the Magistrate, Mr Brabant, repeatedly refused to hear it 9 submitting he had dealt with the matter before. Mr Cotter continued to pres* tho application and Mr Brabant retired to bis private room, and left the Committee in their places. A scene of confusion ensued, Mr Cotter asking; the committee if they would bear the application. Eventually the Committee retired*
