Sowing Lettuces.
There is no difficulty in procuring plentiful supplies of Lettuce early in the summer, but as the season advances and the heat increases •specially if the weather be dry as well as hot, it requires some trouble to be exercised in order to prooure eatable specimens. To prevent this it is adviaeable to sow at intervals of about three weeks in small quantities and in good, rich soil. Drills should be drawn in an an open border 18 inches, and when the plants are large enough thinned out leaving the strongest. By this method tbe difficulty of trans-planting in hot weather is avoided, and there is little waste of seed.— Exchange.
