Foxton Cricket Club.

♦ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of this Club was held last evening in the Church of England Schoolroom, when there was a very fair muster of members, Mr W. S. Stewart being voted to the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary, in his report for the past season, stated that there Had been seven matches played, four of which had been won and three lost, which considering the want of practce, had been a creditable record ; also that after paying all expenses there was a credit balance of id in hand, instead of a deficit as last year. The election of officers resulted as follows : — President, Walter Robinson, Esq ; vice-presidents, Rev. R. Young and Captain Dunk ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. S. Stewart ; captain, Mr G. Stiles ; vice-captain, Mr T. < Betty; committee of management, Messrs Mitchell, Martin, W. Nye, L. Furrie, Warner, Overend, and officers ex officio. The Club now has a membership of 30 which is a substantial increase on last year, and with regard to subscriptions it was resolved that same be paid by the end of September, to enable the Club to procure new material. It was stated that the trophies offered last season could not yet be presented, as the winners had not been decided on. For the coming season trophies were offered as follows : — Best average in batting, by the Club ; and best average in bowling by Mr W. S. Stewart. The question of joining the Manawatu Union and entering for Cup contests was considered, but it was thought impracticable by the majority of members, as the distance in some cases would mean the loss of two days, which was out of the question. It was resolved to open the season on Wednesday, 28th September, with a match married v. single. Votes of thanks were carried for the use of the schoolroom, and to the chairman, and the meeting terminated.
