» On Tuesday the Opposition set up a stonewall to force Ministers to bring down the Public Works estimates at an early date, and to furnish other information. This continuous sitting was kept up till 2 a.m. yesterday when the Premier replied to Captain Russell's letter, suggesting the terms of a compromise and stated he had all along been agreeable to give the information asjced for, and lay the Public Works statement, on the table on the 27th inst. and give the fullest information when considering the contingency items. He hoped the first item would be passed without further delay at 8.30 a.m. The terms of the settlement having been agreed to, Mr R. KcKenzie's motion to report progress was negatived on the voices.
