After the Dervishes had withdrawn on the repulse of their main attack at Egega, the Sirdar's Soudanese cleared the way for the advance, slaughtering wounded Arabs to prevent treachery. The Dervishes killed hundreds of baasts at Omdurman before retreat* ing.
