THE BALACLAVA BUGLE.

Some interesting relics of the Balaclava Charge were sold on Wednesday, 25th March, by Messrs Debenham, Storr, and Sons, at their rooms in Covent Garden. The series comprised the bugle upon which the late Trumpet Maj. Joy, 17th Lancers, sounded the order for the charge, the instrument bearing an inscription tc that effect, also his 4 medals and documents relating thereto. The bidding commenced at 50 guineas, and after a very keen competition the lot was knocked down at 750 guineas, amidst considerable applause from a crowded room. The purchaser was Mr Middlebrook, who announced that upon his decease the relics would be gixen to the 17th Lancers. The sale also included an interesting collection of war medals.
