The British Navy.
. From an English paper of the 3rd of April we take the Navy Stations for April, from which we find that 399 vessels were in commiss^n, and were distributed as follows : — At Portsmouth 55, Sheerness 15, Devenport 62, Chatham 39, around the British coasts 47 and a Training Squadron of 4, making a total of 212. The Channel Squadron was composed of 15 vessels, the Mediterranean Squadron of 40, the East Indies of n, the China Squadron of 33 vessels, and Cape of Good Hope and West Coast of Africa had 16 vessels. In the Pacific there were 8 vessels besides 15 of the Australian Squadron. For North America and the West Indies there were zz vessels, and on the South Coast of America 4 vessels. Then there were 6 vessels engaged in surveying and 17 in "particular service." Truly such a muster roll is a matter of great satisfaction in these times of wars and rumours of wars.
