The Mulioks brought the Afghanistan expedition a quantity of food, and suddenly 1000 of the tribesmen treacherously attacked the party. All .the officers were wounded except Mr Herbert W. Gee, Political Officer at the town of Banu (or Edwardesabad), the chief station in the Tochi district.
The expedition offered a gallant resistance, 50 of the tribesmen being killed and many wounded. A series of severe earthquake shocks lasting for five minutes occurred on Saturday in Calcutta. The Cathedral and many churches and public buildings were badly damaged. Slight natives were billed and many injured. The city was thrown into a state of panic.
