: A great sensation has been caused in France by an attempt upon the life of President Faure. | He was driving to Longcbamps to I witness the race for the Grand Prix de Paris, when a roughly-made bomb was thrown from the standing crowd and exploded close to the open carwage in which President Faure was riding. : Taking advantage of the exoitement, the would-be assassin man aged to make good his escape. i An examination of the remains of the bomb disclosed the fact that its construction was such as to render it incapable of inflicting serious harm. The bubonic plague, which has for the last couple of years done such havoo in Hongkong and Bombay, has broken out at Tochi, on the Bed Sea, 60 miles west of Mecca.
