1 W The Manawatu Times reporting the game at Palmerston on Saturday thus writes of the local team :— The Foxton men were sadly lacking in condition, also in the finer points of the game, but in justice to them it is only fair to state that they were without the services of three of their best forwards. The backs are extremely weak, especially in tackling, the fullback in this respect being of no use whatever to his team, m iking very faint attempts to collar his opponents. P. Robinson was the best of the backs, playing a creditable game under adverse circumstances. The forwards of course can be greatly improved, but at the same time they put in some good work on several occasions. Warner was the pick of the forwards, and is worthy of a place in a better team. Desmond also worked hard, playing a plucky game from beginning to end. When the second spell was commenced one of the Foxton forwards lefb the field i and towards tha close of the game the two Maori backs ceased playing. Such conduct is not encouraging to the captain of the team, and should certainly be prevented in the future. The Foxton team require practice, and the members should also endeavor to put in some gymnasium work.
