Levin Anglican Church.
Last Saturday Mr Alexander Speira, the contractor, finished the erection of the Anglican Church a: Levin. The work was commenced in February last, but the builder has been delayed in obtaining timber, and then in getting it at all seasoned. Mr Walter Staff superintended the buildins? on behalf of the congregation, The church is 57 feet long and 26 feet wide, with walla 14ft , and to the top of the roof 24fc. The walls are of ru3ticated raatai and the flooring is also of maiai. The building is lined inside with upright boarding, in conformity with tho roof which is lined on top of purlinga. The other timber used is red pine, except for finishing, when totara was. In the building there are 20 windows. There ar« als >. 23 feats, which are calculated to sent 152 persons. The walls outside are supported by four buttresses, two ou each side. The roof is of iron. The feature of the building is what may be termed the belfry, which is, to the top of the iron cross, just 66 feet from the ground. The tower is well bolted, and its roof is covered with sawn (ihingleß. The church is an ornament to the town and a credit to the builder. We understand it is very similar to the church erected at Rongotea.
