The Sultan has decorated Pi % e3i dent Faure's wife and daughter. The Dahomeyans have dispersed the French expedition sent to recover the body of the explorer Forget. Seven of the party were killed and the leader wounded. The mission of Zihni Pasha, Governor of Brusa, and Izidit Effendi, of the Turkish Court of Cassation, who were sent by the Porte to consult with the Consuls and endeavour to arrange terms with the malcontents, has proved futile, as the Christians refused to accept ; anything short of complete au- | tonoiny. Pillage and burning are rampant on the island. The Porte has informed the Powers that the sending of reinforcements to Crete by Greece is straining the relations between Turkey and that country. Turkey has mobilised 420,000 troops. The Eansu rebels have defeated the Chinese, and dispersed five camps of Chinese. General Tung only escaped by means of a disguise.
