Roads in Horowhenua County.

Mr J. G. Wilson asked the Minister of Lands, if, seeing that the Grown Land in the Horowhenua County was all handed, over to the Wellingtoo-Manawafcu Railway Company, and therefore no "thirds " have accrued to assist the settlers to. make the roads, the Government will grant a subsidy of £1 for £1 to assist in the very urgent work of bridging the rivers on the main north trunk line of road running through the Horowhenua County? The Minister of Lands said that you can't have your cake and eat it. He thought the railway was a magnificent highway for the prodaoe of these districts. But if there were any cases of hardship, Government would give them careful consideration. — N.Z. Times.
