The County Loan.
Yesterday the Councillors of the Manawatu County were engaged in preparing a fair' schedule of works in connection with a loan of £6000 proposed to be borrowed for road formation. It will be seen that close on £8000 is set aside for what are termed County roads, and a similar sum for district roads. The result of the deliberations is highly satis* factory, a very fair division between the different Ridings seems to have been arrived at. Following is the schedule proposed : — COUNTY ROADS. Foxfcon-Sanson Road— From Motuiti to Carnarvon, being 4£ miles at £820 per mile, total £1440. Taikorea to Rosina — 2£ miles, £800. Carnarvon-Oroua Bridge— 3 miles at £200 per mile, total £600. Feilding- Awahuri — New bridge, £125. Total for County roads, £2965. DISTRICT ROADS. Campbell Riding— Jones' Line, £300 ; Tompkins' Line, £145 ; Sanson's Line, £60 ; total £505. Mount Stewart Riding — Lee's Line, £60; Feilding road, £250; Sandon-Haloombe road, £60 ; Feild-ing-Halcombe road, £27; total, £887. Kawakawa Riding — Main Drain road, £320; Taikorea road, £120; total £440. Awahou Riding — Burr's road, £20 ; Elkina' road, £180 ; Moutoa swamp road, £80; Beach road, £100 ; total £384. Waitohi Riding — Penny's Line, £182; Banks' Line, £300; total, £482. Sandon Riding — Sandon-Hal-. combe road, £60; Taylor's Line, £60 ; Sandon township, £50 ; Richardson's Line, £200; McDonell's Line, £50 ; Gust's Line, £250 ; total, £660. Carnarvon Riding— Taylor's Line, 4114 ; Rosina Line, £175 ; River Bank, £180; total, £419. T*4ftl for District Roads, £2827.
