Chess and Draughts Club.
• The local Chess and Draughts Club arranged last night to fix the date of the chess match by wire with the Palmerston Club for Tuesday, 28th. The Secretary has written to Palmerston to that effect. The committee of the Chess and Draughts Club selected a formal team of six to play Palmerston, and have affixed the names in the Club rooms, with this proviso, that any member of the Club can challenge any of the team to a game of three rounds, when, if victorious, he takes the place of the originally nominated member. This can go on ad infinite mm until the date of the match, the six final victors constituting the team. By this means it is hoped thie best six will be secured to do battle for the honour of the Club. The following six members go out to Moutoa to play a match in the school house to-morrow night with the Montoa Draughts Club: — Messrs John Stuart (captain), J. Andrews j T. Cook, W. L. JohnBtone, G. Timmings, and M. Newth. - Emergency : J. Symons.
