HOUSE OP BEPBESENTATIVES. Tuesday. The Premier announced the appointment of Mr W. B. Edwards to the vacant judgeship. The Old Age Pensions Bill was read a first time. The Representation Act Amend* menfc Bill was read a second and third time and passed. The Criminal Code Aot Amendment Bill was also passed. The Bating on Unimproved Value Bill was committed and rep ar ted with amendments. Wednesday. A long discussion took place on Sir Kobert Stout's motion that the petition presented on 80th June, 1896, from Sir W. Bailer be printed. Mr Tanner who thought the House had had quite enough of Sir Walter Buller moved the adjournment of the discussion for a month, and this was carried by 80 to 20. The Police Force Act Amendment Bill was read a second time, as was the Divorce Bill of Mr McNab's. The second reading of the Bible in Schools Bill was lost by 48 to 11, and the second reading of Dr Newmans Bill to give women a right to 3it in Parliament.
