The Otaki Electorate.
Borne time ago we announced that the Prohibitionists were seeking a suitable representative of their views for this electoral district, and that a requisition wag being signed asking Vfr V. 0. Hansom to allow himself obe nominated. As we have before taid, Mr Ransom is a gentleman leservedly popular in the district md one who could be depended on o act straight. It appears that hese are not the candidates that md favour with the present GovernQent and with an amount of haßfce
and indiscretion to be regretted the Wellington Government newspaper has made the assertion that Mr Ransom has declined to accede to the requisition. In this case it is evidently the wish is father to the thought, but it is not in accordance with fact. We are empowered by Mr Ransom to say that as yet no requisition has been presented to him and therefore he has not made any declaration as to what he vyll do, and it will be time enough when the requisition is presented to reply to it. We are pleased that this is the position, as in case of Mr J. G. Wilson failing us, we feel we have got another string to our bow.
