A force of 10,000 Turkish soldier* ii occupying Crete, and a state of siege has been proclaimed. The Powers have warned the Porte that the massacre of the inhabitants will not be permitted to continue. In the towns in Crete, business is completely paralysed, and the country districts are being pillaged by bands of marauders. The insurgents killed 75 soldiers who were making an attempt to recover a quantity of ammunition at Vamas. News has been received that a force of fifteen hundred insurgents and bandits burnt the town of Antrirabe, in Madagascar, and be* sieged a mission station. The militia repulsed the rebels, who lost two hundred men. The Greek National Committee is assisting the Cretans. ' Turkish authority in Western Crete is limited to the Canea Forts and Suda Bay. The whole of the districts are in the hands ot the insurgents, Eighteen thousand Turkish troops have arrived at the island. Many Christian Tillages have b«en pillaged. The American vessel Three Friends sucoeeded in landing tht expedition in Cuba to help the insurgents. It has been ascertained that at the peasants' fete; held in honour of the coronation of the Czar, and which ended so tragically, 8878 persona were killed and 4000 in* jared.
