'■ ■♦ . ■ ■■ Risings have taken place at Bhang* we, Insiyo, and Selukewe, in Matabeleland. A son of LobeDgula, the defeated King of the Matabele, is aiding tho rising. One thousand women and childre n are in the laager at Buluwayo. The rebels number about eight thousand. The Chartered Company do not believe the rebellion will end in anything very serious. The rebel natives are collecting 80 miles from Buluwayo, and destroying crops. Forty women were rescued at Inseya, and the Matabele retired with heavy loss, Shangive has also been relieved. Two hundred and fifty people are in the laager at Givelo. They have some Maxim guns. Whites in the Filibusi district were massacred after a desperate resistance. Five hundred rifle 3 have been despatched from Mafeking to Bulu> wayo. The Boer 3 are reported to be desirous to be allowed to proceed to the protection of their countrymen in the district. Private advices received from the Cape etate that German artillery officers of high rank and numbers of German soldiers have made their appearance at Pretoria under pretence of looking out for selections of land. President Krugar denies that relations with Mr Chamberlain are strained, and states that the Republic has left the negotiations to the Executive and himself. He adds that he has not declined to visit England.
