COMMITTEE REPORT.

The Public Works Committee have the honor to report on the state of the punt at the Wirokino ferry. Your Committee find chat the punt ia in a very bad state of repair and is leaking very much, and will have to be laid up for repairs at once, before the winter sets in, as the punt is not safe in its present state. We find that the punt will want caulking all over and four extra iron bracei put on to strengthen the punt and carry the weight of the flaps. But before the above work can be carried out it will be necessary to provide another punt to carry on the traffic during the time the present punt is laid up for repairs. The old punt now lying at the ferry belong-' ing to Mr Hillary can be put in repair to use while the present punt ig laid up. As the old punt will cost a good few pounds to make her serviceable for the good working of the ferry your committee would recom* mend that Mr Hillary shall be aU lowed the sum of £10 as the Council's share of the work providing the punt is put in good working order within two weeks after the 9th of this month so as to relieve the present punt for repairs. Geobob Nye, Henby Border, H. Bbadcock.
