Foxton Borough Council.
A special meeting of the above Council was held at the Library buildings yesterday at 2 p.m. Present — The Mayor (G. Nye), Crs Hennessy, Walsh, Odborne, Westwood and Border. The following tenders were opened :— ' For No. 1 contract (drain, part of Wirokino road and Symons* outlet) : Morgan & Co., H. Webb. No. 2 contract, not tendered for. No. 8 contract (Guerin's drain) : H. Webb, J. Chamberlain and Q. Hughes. No. 4 contract (Main drain) : H. Webb, John McGill and T. Chamberlain. No. 5 contract (getting and delivering metal and clay) : W. and C. Anderson, John Stewart, James Andrews and A. Beeves. No. 6 contract (carting for the year : C. Spring (only tender.) No. 7 contract (ranging): P. Guerin, John McGill and A. Shadbolt.
No. 8 contract (cleaning drain in Stewart street) : Andrew Bros, (only tender.) The following resolutions were carried : — Proposed by Or Hennessy, se« conded by Or Osborne, That the Public Works Committee Keport be adopted. Proposed by Or Westwood, seconded by Or Walsh, That this Council appoint Tuesday afternoon from one o'clock to be the weekly half day holiday for the year 1896, within the Borough of Foxton, in compliance with " The Shops and Shop Assistants Act 1894." Proposed by Cr Hennessy, seconded by Cr Osborne, That the tender of John McGill be accepted for ranging for the present year. Proposed by Cr Henneflay, seconded by Cr Osborne, That J. Stewart's tender for claying and metalling be accepted. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Border, That the tender of Thomas Chamberlain for oleaning out Guerin's drain No. 8 contract, at elevenpence per chain be ace ped. Proposed by Cr Walsh, seconded by Cr Osborne, That the tender of 0. Spring for carting for one year be accepted. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Walsh, That tenders be -called for the following works, cleaning out Stewart street drain, southern portion of Wirokino road drain and Purcell street drain. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Walsh, That the tenders of H. Webb for No. 1 Syrnons' outlet drain at 2s, Wirokino road drain at Is, and No. 4 Main drain at Is per chain be accepted.
