A Good Idea.
« The members of the Methodist Church have gone in for a method of raising funds which is a decided novelty in this part of the country as far as we have heard. They have obtained the use of a piece of land from Mr Walker, and have stumped and cleared about an acre and a-half, planted about an acre of it in potatoes, and the rest in oats. The latter will be used for the parson's horse, and the former sold for the benefit of the church funds. The labour has been done by working bees —the first on the Palmerston Show day to stump, the second last Wed • nesday to plough and plant, and the third on Saturday to fence. The expenses have been almost nominal, and if a good crop is obtained the returns may be considerable, without the strain on individuals that a bazaar entails, and with really less labour. We understand that it is j^not an uncommon method in some parts of the States, and that it has been tried down South, and we hope it will be very successful here. — Woodville Fxaminer.
