The State of the River.

.0— Councillor Jenks, Mr F. Young and Mr Hennessy at a suggestion by the Mayor waited with him on Mr Seabuvy, the Harbour Master, last Thursday afternoon to get his opinion as to what would be advisable to be done to get the obstruction in the River removed. In reply to the Mayor, Mr Seabuiy said that as he had previously informed him he had recommended the use of Preisfcman'B Dredge to the Government, the use of which would make the river navigable in about a week. If the Dredge was not procurable Harrows might be tried but he had more confidence in the Dredge.
