Manawatu Rowing Club.
The first heats of the Club's sculling races were rowed off on Tuesday. Unfortunately the competitors did not roll up well, and the ficlt and second heats went by default of opponents to Howan and Bradbury respectively. The third heat was the best of the set, when E. Ingram beat Curtis by two lengths, after a wellfought race. In the last heat the bandicappers had under-estimated the new man Nairn who romped home from his opponent Cowles, who could not reduce the allowance at all. The next heats will be rowed on Tuesday. ;
