The Palmerston Show.
On Thursday a number of settlers left Foxton to visit the Show. The attendance on both days was exceedingly large. The number of entries was 1184, but the number of stock was less than last year. Forester took the first prize in the thoroughbred class. Glengyle in the draught class ; Mr Tompsftt's " Langdale " was adjudged the best hack stallion. . Mr A. S. Baker's Triby was first in the polo pony competition. Mr A. Keiller's Nonsuch won the hunter's competition. Mi- Forster-Pratt's yearling bull was awarded the championship in Ayrshires ; Mr Kathbone'a bull, in Shorthorns; Mr Wheeler's bull in Herefords ; the N.Z. Si A. Land Go's buil in Polled Angus. Mr A. S. Baker secured all places in the Jersey and Aldemey class. Mr Tanner won the championship in Lincoln sheep. Mr Davidson was the only exhibitor of Cotswolds. . Mr Forster-Pratt secured the championship for the best Berkshire boar. ; Mr R. Cobb secured the championship in Romneys. ',;..■ Mr R. Stevens' mare was awarded the championship as the best thoroughbred mare. Mr D. G. Riddiford secured first ; prize in heavy weight haoks, with Souvenir, and Mr Lomax's Sehm in the lighter weights. Mr Perry's Duke was first in the hunters' competition. Mr S. R. Lancaster secured prizes for both weight and quality in the dairy cow sections. Amongst the machinery and implements we noticed Mr C. Dahl's display of tarpaulins, horse covers, rick and waggon cloths, ropes, twines and oilskins. Mr E. G. Gox exhibited the com-« position fencing posts manufactured at Sansou. Mr C. Nelson's exhibited his flax grubbing machine. . ■•■*.
