» The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held in the Council Chambers, Sanson, on Wednesday, when there were present : — Crs Ransom (chair), Strang, Taylor, Robinson, Hammond, and Masters. The following resolutions were agreed to : — That Cr J. G. Wilson be granted leave of absence from this meeting. That James Harper be allowed to erect a gate op Severn-street Campbell town, during the pleasure of the Council. The Chairman stated that Crg Masters, Hammond and himself had waited on the Manawatu Road Board with reference to the Awahuri bridge, and, at a special meeting three schemes were discussed for dealing with the matter. One was to build a new bridge which would cost between £6000 and £7000. Another scheme was to build half a new bridge and repair the remaining part of the present structure at a cost of about £3000. The third proposal was to simply repair the present bridge which would cost about £2000. The second proposal was agreed to at the meeting. That the report of the committee appointed to meet the local bodies interested in the Awahuri bridge r« the advisability of building a new bridge or otherwise be adopted. That arrangements for alteration to the stable be made by the Chairman. That a special order be made as follows, " That this Council agrees to sell the Sanson -Carnarvon tramway to Messrs Stewart and Hunt in the terms of agreement attached, special order to take effect on 18th September, 1894, and that the Chairman and Cr Hammond sign the agreement. That tenders be invited for the formation (about 25 chains) and trimming (about 80 chains) on Whale line, tenders to be in by the next meeting of the council. That the request of the Small Bird Nuisance Club for a grant of £10 be granted on the production of balance sheet, That the council agree that the Rating Act of 1882 be in force in the county of Manawatu and that all assessment of property made under the provision of sub section 8 of 2 of the Rating Act amendment 1893 within the said county shall be in accordance with section 2 of the Rating Act 1882.— Advocate.
