Mayoral Election.

Yesterday Burgesses were bu«y recording their votes in favour of one or other of the candidates for the' position of Mayor. Both candidates were much in evidence throughout the day receiving the Burgesses as they arrived at the polling booth with marked cordiality. The ex citement was not grjat, but the result is generally considered satis factory and was looked upon as a foregone conclusion. After the Returning Officer de clared the result of the poll as — T.P.Williams ... 57 R. Austin ... 45 thus giving Mr Williams a majority of 12. Messrs Williams and Austin briefly thanked their supporters, and the little gathering that had collected to learn the result, quietly dispersed.
