Suicide of a Woman.
About ;"> o'clock on Saturday afternoon Mrs Kllen ttrooker committed suicide at her residence in Hansen s'-reet. Mrs Jkooker, who was oniy 25 years of age, had been for some weeks suffering from melancholia.

At about 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon her husband, who is a lettercarrier, asked her if she would go out for a walk with him and her little son, aged about four years. She replied that she was not feeling very well, and would lie down while they were out. On returning about 5 o'clock the husband found a letter in the kitchen, and after reading it immediately searched for his wife, whom he found hanging from one of the beams below the house. He cut the body down, and his cries attracted the attention of Mrs Leathern and Mr Peter Johnston, neighbours, who at once came to his assistance. They sent for Dr Alexander, of llevans street, the nearest physician. Dr Alexander came and was shortly joined by Dr Ewart, from the hospi* tal, who had been telephoned for. Alter examination of the corpse in the presence of Constable Carroll, the doctors agreed that death had been caused by strangulation, the result of intentional suicide. Deceased had been ailing for some time, and being of a very sensitive nature had worried herself into a melan* cholia state. The letter left was of a purely personal nature, and closed with a request that her child might be given in charge of a friend of hers. The letter was a most pathetic one, but of too personal a character tor publication
