The British Resident is to be heartily congratulated on withhold ing his hand on one point. He says that no attempt has been made to introduce English modes of procedure in their Parliament. Well for yon, oh ! Raratonga's, you have therefore escaped being gagged, or punched, or horsewhipped, but in time there will be a terrible awakening. True, too true, the Resident feels assured the Islanders will adopt them gradually, as necessities arise.
