The results of the French 510 elections are known. The Be. publicans have returned 808 can-
didates, the Radicals 14, and the Conservatives 44. A hundred and fifty-five second ballots will be taken on September 3rd. M. Etienne was re-elected, but MM. Clemencaau and De Cassagnac will have to wait a second ballot. . * The Eight has suffered a complete defeat, as also have the Bonlaugists and the men who sought to make capital out of the Panama scandal. Among the latter was M. Delahaye, who first brought the charges of corruption before the Chamber, Comte De Mun defeated M. Rouvier. MM. Deloncle, Bourgeois and Wilson, ex-President Grevy's son-in-law, are elected. There is little excitement over the elections. The Republicans have gained 63 seats and lost none, while the Royalists have lost 50.
