Coming into "the straight tbe favourite still led, all the rest being under the whip, Veracity winning easily at the finish; Bees wing beating Sett Bird b^ a Head for SScotirj p.e. Dividend, £% 10s. Handicap Hurdles, of 80 soys. Mr J. Humphries' Allegretto (Hall) ";:•; .. ... ... 1 Mt W. Jenkins 1 Defence (Hathaway) 2 Mr Hunia's Huia (Kingan) ... 8 Omahn, Auroa, Shan, Elaine, The Lamb, and Balance Sheet also started. Nat was scratched. Auroa . and Allegretto Were first to negotiate the first hurdle, followed by Shan, Balance Sheet, fluis; Elaine and The Lailili; all jjuiiipibg Well. No material change took place the first time round, excepting that Auroa ran off a hurde. and was pulled up, Shan also running off shortly afterwards. Allegretto still maintained her advantage into the straight, where Elaine made her effort but could not get up to the leader. Half way down the straight Defence put in his claim,; but could not get on terms with Allegretto, who won' by three lengths, Huia a poor third. . Dividend £3 Ifc?, . :...-.' Trial Hurdles. Mr T. Knights Harold . ... 1 Darkie ... ... ... 2 The Maori ..... .... ., .. ... 8 Cruiskein, Rabelais, Good Iron, Pango,. Honesty; Whitikarana, Lord Clair and Elaine also started. Honesty Cruiskein and Harold jumped the^ first hurdle togetber, the rest tailing off. Honesty and Cruiskein carried on the running to the second fence, where Cruiskein came to grief. Honesty led over the third hurdle, when he was joined by Harold, i Darkie and Maori, and. the three came away from Honesty, Harold eventually winning by a length. Dividend, £7 14s. Sandon Handicap, of 70 soys. Mr A. Morse's Hark j. Mr J. Mathers' Southern Queen 2 Mr S. Messene's Karamea ... 8 Eve, Hippodamia, Lady Clare, Veracity, Magazine and Nat also started. Magazine! and Hippodamia cut out the running at a solid pace for about a mile. Passing the stand the order^was, -Magazine, . Hippodamia^ Karame^l^ady Glare, Hark (under the 'whip) and Nat last. At the mile and a quarter post Karamea had taken, command,' Hark gradually going through his horses. When the half mile post was reached Hark was taken to the front and was never afterwards headed, winning easily by two lengths from Southern Queen, who was a length in front of Karamea, the rest easing up.
