Manawatu Rowing Club.
At a committee meeting held on Friday last the Paptain of the Club (Mr J. R. Stansell), offered trophies for a pair oared outrigger race to be rowed for in about three weeks time, the final to be rowed for on St Patrick's Day, (March 17th.) For this race six crews must start or no prize. The course will be from Robinson's shed to the old Ferry house. The committee will arrange the crews next Monday from entries received up to Saturday next at 9 p.m. A letter was received from Mr Hunter agreeing to the committees proposal to finish the rowing for his cup. The five winners Messrs Hinchliffe, J. Symons, T. Nye, M. Thompson and J. Howan to start from scratch and the winner to take the cup Mr* Norton, boatbui'der, wrote explaining the delay in executing the order for two new boats and it was resolved as the boats could not be delivered in time to be of service this season to cancel the order. The Rev. G. Aitkens was elected a member of the club. A public meeting wH be called shortly to arrange matters. in connection with the Annual Regatta to be held on March 17th, St Patrick's Day.
