Sudden Death.
♦•■ Yesterday morning the baby girl of Mr James Liddell aged four months died under somewhat peculiar circumstances which should act as a warning to mothers. Mrs Liddell had given the baby a piece of rag soaked in a mixture of sugar and oatmeal to suck, and the baby being quiet, took her breakfast and went out to a neighbour. On her returning about 10 o'clock she looked in at the baby and was alarmed at its not moving and she at once ran for Mrs M Spelman who on looking at the baby saw the mass of rag stuck fast in its mouth, and with Borne trouble she removed it. Dermer was sent for but the little <t J one. was dead. the iiiatter Ms reported to tne v Coroner but he*did riot B§e that an inquest was necessary.
