Foxton State School Athletic Sports, 1892.
We have been requested to publish the following programme of the various events provided for the school sports, which it is to be hoped may become an annual item in the history of the school. The programme has received the sanction of the committee and appears to hava been drawn up with great care. We may add that suitable prizes for the winners of the several events have been arranged for by the School Committee* BOYS. 1. Hurdle Race, over 14; 120 yds. 2. Hurdle Race under 14; 100 yds. 8. Race for very small boys ; 60 yds. 4. Race for boys under 8; 80 yds. 5. Race for boys under 10 ; 100 yds 6. Race for boys under 12 ; 100 yds. 7. Champion Race. Three heats, 100 yds. 200 yds, and 440 yds. 8. Hop step-and -jimp, under 12. 9. Hop -step-and-j iimp, over 12. 10. High jump, under 12. 11. High jump over i2 12. Long jump under 12. 13. Long jump over 12. 14. Half Mile Race. 15. Throwing Cricket Ball. 16. Egg-and-spoon Race ; 50 yds. 17- Simian Race ; 50 yds. 18. Siamese Race ; 100 yds. 19. Sack Hace; 50 yds. 20. Potato Race. 21. Vaulting with pole. 22. Tug-of-War. GIELS. 1. Race for very little girls; 50 yds. 2. Race for girls under 8 ; 80 yds. 8. Race for girls under 12 ; 100 yds. 4. Race for girls over 12; 100 yds. 5. Race for girls under 20 ; 100 yds. 6. Skipping for very small girls. 7. Skipping for girls undsr 8 years. 8. Skipping for girls under 10 years. 9. Sjripping for girls under 12 years. 10. Skipping for girls under 20 years. 11. Skipping and Racing^under 10 years ; 40 yds. 12. Skipping and Racing over 10 years ; 50 yds. 13. Tug-of-War.
