♦ On Tuesday evening the second round of heats for Hunter's Cup was rowed off. In the first race, Cowles 15secs v. Robertson 20secs, the latter made good use of his start, but Cowles caught him in rounding the buoy. The race, however, promised to be a tough one, but unfortunately Robertson's arm gave out and he came across his opponents bow. After getting clear Cowles rowed home an easy winner. The second race, J. Syinons Bsecs v. Howan 2Osecs, was a splendid one, both men being very determined and rowed hard all the way. After passing the buoy it was very doubtful who would win, but when the winning post was passed Howan led by a little more than a length. The drawing for to-nights racing resulted in Imrie 8 sees v. Cowles
16 sees at 6.30 pan. Howan 20 sees a live. $he final will be roWed on Tuesday next, circumstances permitting. T&S it "fcOWHAI." i' ; • '••,-,. i ■■ ij, For to-nights race I expect to see Cowles win with very little to spare after a hard race.
